Hubble blows a bubble on 26th Birthday!

Hubble sees a star inflating a giant bubble.

The Bubble Nebula is seven light-years across—about one-and-a-half times the distance from our sun to its nearest stellar neighbor, Alpha Centauri, and resides 7,100 light-years from Earth in the constellation Cassiopeia. ~NASA

The Hubble Space Telescope has been near and dear to my heart over the past 20 years. The images it has sent back for our viewing pleasure were amazing! It has shown us that our universe is big and beautiful. You can’t help but think there might actually be others like us out there!

The big ‘W’ constellation you see in the night sky is where this gas bubble is located. Next time you are able to look up at night, see if you can find it. Then imagine you’re in a spaceship and have front row seats to the beauty that is the Bubble Nebula.

  1. Very cool and thank you for sharing that little tidbit of information! I did have a chuckle when I quickly ready your post title. I thought it said “hubby blows a bubble at age 26” . Yes, you can laugh along with me (or at me). Have a wonderful weekend!
